THANK YOU!

Your generous support is what allows us to make this film. Make a general contribution or sponsor a budgetary item. You are never required to contribute the whole amount of the item. Every contribution brings us a step closer to production and to that end, we are enormously grateful.

Feel free to go through our "shop by budget item" feature below. You can learn about the different areas of our production that require funding and contribute directly to a specific department. We created this feature so you can see exactly where your contribution is going and - most importantly - feel connected to the making of this film.

However, if you would rather contribute a general sum, we will apply it toward the least funded portions of the budget.  Each and every contribution – be it $10 or $10,000 – is extremely important and valued.

You can make both direct and tax-deductible contributions online using a credit card OR send a check to

Peresempio Picture House LLC

Please make checks payable to Peresempio Picture House LLC if making a direct contribution.  Please contact us at ohsophiafilm@gmail.com if you would like to mail us a tax-deductible check. We look forward to hearing from you!

If your employer participates in an Employee Matching Gift program, please let us know!

Many businesses offer a benefit of employment called an Employee Matching Gift program. Programs of this kind match a donation made by an employee to a charity with a corporate donation to the same charity. In almost all cases, the donor and the charity (meaning Fractured Atlas) must complete some paperwork to process a gift of this kind.

Legal Fees

  1. Yes sirree, all characters appearing in this work are fictitious. But in the indie filmmaking world, it’s a smart idea to get legal clearances for names, characters, incidents, places and other elements that someone out there could potentially decide they find offensive or defaming.
  2. And since Oh, Sophia is an original, fictitious work, we’re protecting the screenplay by getting the copyright registered.
  3. Forming an LLC comes with a hefty filing fee, but it protects filmmakers, the production and anyone who contributes to the film. We all benefit – who doesn’t want that?

INSURANCE

  1. The Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting requires it. And as much as we love guerrilla filmmaking, we love our cast and crew more. Insurance protects them, the locations and property involved in the production.

Producer & Director

  1. This covers a lot of nitty-gritties: casting expenses, rehearsal space, meetings, fundraising expenses and other costs that may arise between now and the end of production.
  2. No stipends for us, not this time.

The Stars

  1. Finally…the good stuff! Stipends for our incredible lead cast during the shoot – they totally deserve it.
  2. Since we'll be shooting in Bushwick and our cast lives all over NYC, it's only fair to cover their travel costs to and from set – especially for those late-night shoots and we have a couple scheduled.

Extra Talent

  1. We're filming in Bushwick, not a bubble! Background talent is important in creating the right ambience - be it in the bar scenes, the taqueria, the theater or even on the street.

Production Crew

  1. This includes stipends for the Assistant Director, Production Manager, Location Coordinator, Script Supervisor and Production Accountant... folks who keep us in line and the shoot on track.

Camera, Light and Grip Crew

  1. Stipends for our Cinematographer, Assistant Camera, Gaffer, Grips, Electricians and Stills Photographer. We wouldn't have a film if it weren't for these guys and girls.

CAMERA EQUIPMENT

  1. Though we own a beautiful HD camera, we need to rent additional equipment and accessories to give Oh, Sophia a look all it's own – including an underwater camera case for a pool scene. Can't wait to shoot that one!

Grip and LIGHTING EQUIPMENT

  1. It's hard to miss a film set – with all the lights, stands, cables, clamps, gels, and mounts – you can spot a production from a mile away. Oh, Sophia will be a pretty low-key production but we still need to rent or purchase some of these items so you see what we're filming in the best possible way.

Art Crew

  1. Stipends for our Production Designer and Hair/Make-up/Wardrobe Stylists.
  2. Stipends for Art Assistants that we need to help out on the couple days with extensive design and/or lots of extra cast to make up and dress.

DESIGN & SET DRESSING

  1. Set design is crucial to the look and believability of Oh, Sophia, covering costs of everything required to dress the various locations in this film. From furniture to props, production design covers it all.
  2. Includes: furniture, building materials and art supplies.

WARDROBE

  1. The characters in Oh, Sophia have a hip, unique style that's reflected in their fashion choices. And though our actors are letting us scour their closets for any clothing options we might find, there are additional rentals and purchases to be made.

MAKE-UP & HAIR

  1. Our style's natural, but we need some basic make-up supplies to keep the shine off faces of hardworking actors
  2. The belly dancing and theater performance scenes call for a few more supplies. Can't wait to shoot those too!.

SOUND

  1. the sound crew consisting of the Sound Mixer and Boom Operator, as well as rental costs of sound equipment, walkie-talkies and battery purchases.

LOCATIONS

  1. Some of our interesting locations include an upstate mansion, a hookah bar, a clothing exchange, a Bushwick tortilla factory and a raw performance art space.
  2. Though a few locations are letting us shoot in exchange for film credit and free advertising, others – especially those we need overnight or for a few days - require some sort of fee or stipend for an employee to stay back as we film.

FIRST AID

  1. Covers the usual suspects to tackle aches, pains and allergies. Be prepared!

MEALS

  1. It's no joke – a well-fed crew is a happy crew and Meals plus Crafty (see below) are two of our most important budget items. Shoot days last 8 to 12 hours with an average of 2 meals per day. We're talking about feeding a cast and crew of anywhere between 15 and 25 people, not to mention the days we have extras on set.
  2. Like on previous shoots, we are soliciting meal donations from local restaurants (and a big thank you to those helping us out) but as much as we want to, we might not obtain all our scheduled and unscheduled meals for free!

CRAFTY

  1. Everyone has a snack that makes them happy – be it chips, candy, fruits or even vegetables. And we like our team to be happy. We're budgeting $200 towards snacks.
  2. We're scheduled for a late summer shoot and need all the hydration we can get. Water, soda, juice and ice – a total of $800.
  3. Coffee is the unsung hero on any film set, period. $200 for our hero.

GRATUITIES

  1. Donations are rarely wholly free but often require a small gratuity.
  2. (Those tips add up!)

PRODUCTION VEHICLES

  1. We need three vans:
  2. One for equipment.
  3. One for our art crew since they'll be dressing one location while we'll shooting in another.
  4. One passenger van for the couple days we travel outside New York.
  5. All three vans need their fuel, approximately $500 for the entire shoot.

PARKING & TOLLS

  1. Overnight parking for our production vans – after all, they need somewhere to rest while we do.
  2. Not to mention miscellaneous street parking while we're shooting or while the art department preps the next location.
  3. And tolls for when drive to our few locations outside New York.

PICTURE VEHICLES

  1. Production vehicles are functional; picture vehicles need to look good. Sophia has a sweet ride – after all, it's how she steals Paddy from Diya.

ANIMALS

  1. Oh, Sophia features pigeons (a regular fixture in the Bushwick skies) and a cat. We’re budgeting for their
  2. Feed and shelter,
  3. Trainers,
  4. And potential veterinary expenses.

EDITING

  1. A stipend for the Editing Assistant (Bornila will edit once production wraps).
  2. Since we’re shooting digital, we need lots of external hard drives to back up all the footage. The Editing Assistant will get this ball rolling while the rest of us are out shooting.
  3. A computer or laptop to edit on.
  4. Extra editing expenses, such as screening costs, blank DVDs and tapes.

POST-PRODUCTION SOUND and Music

  1. A stipend for our Sound Designer/Mixer, the person responsible for Oh, Sophia’s final audio mix-down – the final and incredibly important step!
  2. Studio sessions to record with the local, independent bands who are lending their musical awesomeness to the film.
  3. Expenses for foley and/or dub sessions to make the sound be the best it can possibly be.
